ABOUT
Downtown Minneapolis is home to over 160,000 workers, 40,000 residents, and welcomes more than 30 million visitors each year to our world-class facilities and entertainment. This equates to over half a million people that live, work, and travel in and out of downtown every day. Private investment in our downtown is also growing significantly. All this activity requires a robust transportation network of sidewalks, bike lanes, transit facilities and roadways. Our streets and utilities are working hard to keep up.
As stewards of this important infrastructure, the City is undertaking improvements to serve you better. In addition to other downtown investments being made by agency partners, the City is making significant improvements to 8th Street, 4th Street, Hennepin Avenue, and the 10th Avenue bridge.
The City is committed to managing traffic and providing detour information for pedestrians, bicycles, transit, and cars. We are working with our downtown partners to make sure people can get where they need to be, and to ensure that downtown is open for business.
